Mayer Chardonnay 2024

In the glass, the wine presents a bright hue with yellow and green highlights. The nose is greeted with vibrant aromas of lemon curd, grapefruit, red apple juice, green mango, and a hint of green almond, complemented by dashes of sea spray and ginger. On the palate, a beautifully strong acid line underscores flavors of green and brown pear, delivering wonderful minerality and a touch of texture. The finish is marked by a slippery texture and chalkiness, showcasing great concentration and impressive length.

Timo Mayer's approach to winemaking emphasizes minimal intervention to showcase the true expression of the land. For the 2024 Chardonnay, the grapes were fermented and aged in old hogsheads for six months before being transferred to stainless steel tanks. Notably, there was no malolactic fermentation or lees stirring, preserving the wine's freshness and clarity. All wines are unfined and unfiltered, aligning with Mayer's philosophy of allowing the vineyard's character to shine through.
