Domaine de Villaine Bouzeron Aligoté 2021
Since Aubert de Villaine, co-owner and co-director of Domaine de la Romanée Conti, and his wife Pamela purchased the domaine in 1971, Domaine de Villaine has been producing exceptional wines from their home in Bouzeron from the Côte Chalonnaise region of Burgundy.
Bouzeron, nestled in the Côte Chalonnaise region with vines planted by the monks of Cluny in the Middle Ages. This small, sunny valley has a rich and lengthy tradition of producing quality wines which reflect their exceptional terroir.
This wine comes from vines situated on the best slopes of the appellation. Domaine de Villaine have planted the golden Aligoté doré grape, which gives lowers yield and more aromatic wines than its cousin, the Aligoté vert. True to its varietal nature, the de Villaine Bouzeron is a liveley, fruity wine, but it also has a finesse and roundness that spring from the essential nature of the terroir. These qualities lend it great versatility. To best appreciate the freshness and fruit, the wine should be drunk young, within two or three years, however to allow the wine to fully develop fullness and "fatness", the wine can be aged for up to ten years.
