Le Domaine d'Henri 821 'Chablis' Blanc de Blancs Pet Nat Brut Nature 2020
If you were wanting a very cool pet nat, you've come to the right place!
Known for its stunningly pure expressions of still Chardonnay, Chablis is not the first place you would think of when 'pet nat' comes to mind. However legendary winemaker Michel Laroche at Le Domaine d'Henri has produced an exciting 100% hand-picked Chardonnay pet nat in Chablis!
Unfortunately due the strict appellation laws, it's not allowed to be labeled a Chablis, hence the name 821, which refers to 821 days from the beginning of the Chardonnay growing season to when the bottle leaves the cellars of Le Domaine D'Henri.
“It’s no exaggeration to say that Michel Laroche is defined by Chablis in the same way that Michel Chapoutier is by the northern Rhone, or Olivier Humbrecht by Alsace” – Decanter
After 45 years at the helm of Domaine Laroche, Michel Laroche embarked on a new project with Margaux, his daughter. Beginning with the 2012 vintage, Domaine d’Henri is named after Michel’s father Henri. Reclaiming the Laroche family vineyards of 22 hectares which include 17 plots across Petit Chablis, Chablis, 1er Cru Fourchaume and Beauroy.
