Jansz Single Vineyard Vintage Chardonnay 2018

Pale gold in colour with an exceptionally fine
bead. Aromas of white florals, fresh straw and
honeysuckle with notes of toasted brioche.The
palate is elegant and poised. Vanilla bean and
spiced pear mingle with lemon zest and hints of
sea spray. This is a sophisticated, savoury wine
with fine, creamy, nougat texture from extended
time on tirage and long, chalky, mineral acidity.

This small parcel is whole bunch pressed with only the best of the first juice retained. It is then fermented and aged in mature French barriques and hogsheads for eight months to gain further complexity, before selection of the finest barrels for
assemblage and tirage. The wine experiences over six years of ageing on lees in the bottle, developing richness and finesse. The cuvée is then disgorged and a lean 4g/L dosage is added to retain freshness.

Jansz Tasmania is a sparkling wine house, solely devoted to the art of sparkling winemaking since 1986.

Location is integral to growing outstanding fruit and Tasmania can boast some of the most idyllic conditions in Australia. The similarities of Tasmania's climate to northeast France, along with the rich and free-draining basalt soils, led the famed Champagne house Louis Roederer to partner with Heemskerk Wines and plant Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines in Pipers River in 1986.

Like Roederer, the Hill-Smith Family recognised the region’s potential to create world-class sparkling wines. They purchased the property in 1998 and set about establishing one of the most highly regarded family-owned sparkling wine houses in Australia, dedicated to making premium sparkling wines, using the traditional Méthode Champenoise for all its vintage wines.

Jansz Tasmania was born.
